We are delighted to announce that our brand new website is up and running.

Here you can read our story, find out about upcoming events you might be interested in and discover how to get involved and help shape creative activities in Thurrock.

This will be the first place to read the latest news from Start Thurrock and there is a section with case studies that celebrate the work we’ve done so far.

You can read about our successful Green Light taster programme and Research and Development commissions where more than 500 residents helped develop creative proposals set to be brought to life soon.

The site has been designed in our brand developed by Thurrock residents and community members who kindly worked with us to share their ideas and views about what makes our area unique, what they are proud of, what they would like to see happen and what we should represent.

We hope that our website captures this and that you like what you see!

Start planning for the summer

It’s shaping up to be a spectacular summer at Start Thurrock with two unique events to be held in the heart of our communities.

Colourscape is an inflated sculpture of connected chambers which you travel through to experience a sensory display of colour, music and light.

Here you can experience music created on unusual instruments while wandering through extraordinary views of radiant colour and discovering musicians and dancers.

As well as the unique immersive sensory experience, there will also be free activities to enjoy outside, before and after your booked slot including walk-about acts, family-friendly workshops and interactive story-telling.

You loved Colourscape last year, and we are delighted to be bringing this back to Thurrock in 2024, working alongside Eye Music Trust and Continental Drifts.

Keep your eyes peeled for details of the location and how you can book your places – coming soon!

We are also hosting Music of the Spheres at Lakeside Shopping Centre on Saturday, 10 August.

Here you can watch in wonder as aerial performers suspended inside giant inflated bubbles move across the water in a truly magical outdoor performance.

Not being performed anywhere else in the UK this year, we are excited to be delivering this awe-inspiring spectacle alongside the Lakeside team, Eye Music Trust and Continental Drifts.

This is sure to be unlike anything you’ve ever seen before – so don’t miss out on this unique event.

It starts with our partners

There are also plenty of events coming up from our talented friends across Thurrock over the next few weeks!

Arts Outburst are running their Get Creative Festival 2024 throughout May, celebrating all the wonderful creativity happening in the area.

There’s also the tenth T100 Festival which launches on 25 May, bringing a range of walks, events and activities to Thurrock!

We’re also delighted to be a part of Thurrock’s first Pride festival on June 8 which will also feature a pre-Pride party, theatre performances and a movie screening.

Don’t forget the Afro Food Fest on June 22, either! It’s a celebration of music and food which will be a deliciously unforgettable experience and we are so pleased to support U-Turnships to host it again.
